Copying from Microsoft Word

Copying and pasting from Microsoft Word may not always produce the desired result as Microsoft Word text contains elements that will not display properly on any computer that does not have Microsoft Word installed. Microsoft Word will, for a fee, sell a compatibility library, but there is a no-cost option.

  1. Open up WordPad from the Accessories folder.
  2. Cut and paste from Microsoft Word into WordPad.
  3. Cut and paste from WordPad into HotDoodle.

WordPad seems to be written before Microsoft added the incompatible elements.

Example of Text Pasted Directly From Microsoft Word

Below is the summary text at the top of this screen copied and pasted directly from Microsoft Word. The pasted text contains complex HTML and all of the "Mso" elements that will be missing on other computers without Microsoft Word.
