Websites may accumulate users who use the website inappropriately, posting off topic or with the intent of being disruptive. Deleting these users off the website often just results in the user returning under another name.

HotDoodle's Banned User Capabilities can defeat most inappropriate users. If the Banned User checkbox is clicked:

• The Banned user remains in the system -- to delete them out would alert them to being deleted and they might establish a different user identity.
• The Banned user may post, but
  • Anything they post is not sent to anybody but them.
  • Anything they post is not seen by anybody but them.
  • Also, new users from the same IP address automatically also become banned.

The banned user will see all the comments they post so they will be unaware that they have been banned and may continue their disruptive behavior without affecting any other visitors to the website. 

There might be a time when a user is disruptive to your website and you would like to stop any of their attempts to create new users. You can configure your website to ban anyone who tries to register from a specified email IP address.

Steps: How to Ban users at a specific IP Address

1. From the HotDoodle Toolbar, click on the "Administration" tab.

2. Click on the "User & Group Accounts" button.

3. Click on the “Mange Banned IPs” link.

4. Type in IP Addresses for the website to block.

5. Click on the "Save" Button.
